School & other group visits

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC WE CURRENTLY CANNOT OFFER SCHOOL AND GROUP VISITS – WE WILL RESUME THESE AS SOON AS THIS BECOMES POSSIBLE.

KMC Nottingham welcomes interest from schools, groups or other organisations that would like to find out more about Meditation/Buddhism.

This is a wonderful chance to enter an authentic Modern Buddhist Centre, to see qualified statues of Buddha, to ask questions, and to try simple breathing meditation. We strive to make the visit a lot of fun, enjoyable and lighthearted, whilst still meeting all of your educational requirements.

You can learn about many aspects of Buddhism and Buddhist practice, suitable for everyone irrespective of religious view or practice. Our teachers are both male & female, lay (wearing regular clothes) and ordained (wearing traditional robes), exemplifying how Buddhist practice is about training our mind and improving our compassion and wisdom. You can ask us any questions you wish whilst you are here and take photographs.

Examples of activities:-

• Talk about the life of Buddha, what Buddhists practice, how to meditate, about the Buddhas and statues
• Making water offerings
• Enjoying making a mandala offering
• Explanation of the traditional robes and practices of a nun or monk

Simple learn to meditate sessions, suited to the age of the visitors. This can be a breathing meditation or a meditation on kindness and compassion for others. We will always confirm the content of the meditation with you beforehand. Occasionally students would prefer to not meditate; this is not a problem to accommodate as we have a separate lounge area.

Group visits for older children and adult groups can be tailored but generally include a short talk and meditation with time for a question and answer session. Please feel welcome to discuss when booking anything your group may like to cover.

We are able to accommodate large groups at the centre or visit your school or venue.

We have wheelchair access to our meditation room and public areas, but it is helpful to let us know in advance if you need wheelchair access as this is via the back of the building (from Vivian Avenue).

Guideline Prices:-

Up to 35 children – £2 each, for each additional child – 50p (accompanying adults free)
